I was homeless in Birmingham for a few years. But I always had a place to stay (except for 3 days when I just walked around) and I met many people who were on the streets. I ate many meals at the Fireside on Pershore, where they had an hour for prayer every Thursday morning with the nuns. I don't agree with Catholic doctrine, but those nuns were passionate in their prayer and they loved the gospels and people. The Holy Spirit was there with us. I have great memories of Birmingham. Bless you, Andrew, with grace, grace, grace.

From March 1990 for 4 1/2 years, I lived in many places and was of no fixed abode. Nights were spent in various places including friends apartments / houses, caravan, tent, B & B, vehicles, rough, and some interesting places e.g. a mountain bike shop. Also because I no longer owned a car, I had to walk, sometimes long distances. During this period of no fixed abode I had the following experience which may be of interest since it is based on application of the above scriptural blueprint for getting out of a jam! yes, I read the "outofjam" article and noticed the reference to the verse where Jezus says that the son of man has no place to lay his head. I once read a teaching that interpreted that verse as meaning that Jezus had no "body" that would accept HIm as "head" - as the authority over it. And I believe there is a connection - that when we accept Him as our head, he will provide for the needs of the body, including a place to rest. I have been meditating on that word lately - REST - it's wonderful. The seventh day is called a "sabbath of rest"; we are invited to "enter into His rest" - a life of shalom peace, when we trust Him with our lives.

Perhaps also the Lord is outside the camp and if one wants to follow Him that's where one goes also. There are verses in the Torah and Hebrews about this! For example
Hebrews 13:13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
During my time of no fixed abode I remember walking some distance to a Christian meeting. Once there I was telling some people of my experiences and one lady remarked, " You are a tramp! " Another lady softened the blow somewhat by saying, " A Tramp for the Lord. *" ------------------------------------- * Corrie Ten Boom wrote a book called " A Tramp for the Lord. "
