Another Response From The Passion Movie "For years I have been fighting pain in my body. During the movie The Passion when I saw the beating Jesus was taking I thought to myself, Jesus did that to save me. Then I really felt the Lord tell me "No He did that to heal you" "by His stripes you are and were healed". Almost immediately I felt a warmth come over my body and all the pain that had been there for years was gone. I am totally healed. It's a miracle to be pain free. Thank you Jesus for what you did."

From Jim
This morning interviewed very nice woman from South Telford Association of Churches, who've printed flyers and set up a dedicated phone number for people who've seen the film and want to talk to someone about it. They're distributing the flyers around the town and outside the cinema.

The Cross
John 10 18 " No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father."
Isaiah 50 6 I gave My back to those who strike Me, And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.
John 18 22 When He had said this, one of the officers standing nearby struck Jesus, saying, "Is that the way You answer the high priest?"
John 18 23 Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken wrongly, testify of the wrong; but if rightly, why do you strike Me?"
Matthew 26 67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him,
Matthew 27 30 They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head.
Mark 15 19 They kept beating His head with a reed, and spitting on Him, and kneeling and bowing before Him.
Luke 22 63 Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him, 64 and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?"
Isaiah 53 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.
Isaiah 53 10 But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
John 19 36 For these things came to pass to fulfill the Scripture, "NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN."
John 19 2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and put a purple robe on Him;
Matthew 27 28 They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.
Psalm 22 17 I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me;
John 19 1 Pilate then took Jesus and scourged Him.
Isaiah 53 2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.
Isaiah 52 14 Just as many were astonished at you, My people, So His appearance was marred more than any man And His form more than the sons of men.
John 19 16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
Mark 15 20 After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they led Him out to crucify Him.
Matthew 27 32 As they were coming out, they found a man of Cyrene named Simon, whom they pressed into service to bear His cross.
John 19 17 They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha.
John 19 23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His outer garments and made four parts, a part to every soldier and also the tunic; now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece.
Psalm 34 20 He keeps all his bones, Not one of them is broken.
John 19 14 Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, "Behold, your King!"
John 19 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
John 20 12 and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying.
THE LAST EIGHT SAYING OF JESUS ON THE CROSS
1.) LK 23:34 Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. 2.) LK 23:43 Today you shall be with me in paradise. 3.) JH 19:26 Woman, behold your son. 4.) JH 19:27 Behold your mother. 5.) MAT 27:46 Eli, Eli lama sabachthani? That is to say, my God, my God, why have you forsaken me? 6.) JH 19:28 I thirst. 7.) JH 19:28 It is finished. 8.) LK 23:46 Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.

Passion for evangelism breaks the records Very many thanks to everyone who has prayed for us and/or ordered copies of the Mel Gibson issue of New Life newspaper. The latest issue features The Passion film and, so far, more than 126,000 copies have been despatched, with orders piling in every day. We reprinted 40,000 extra copies on Monday this week, and already 25,000 of those have gone. This is most copies we have ever despatched, so you can guess how excited everyone is in our offices. What a fantastic opportunity for the Gospel! To help you make an impact in your community, the Easter issue of New Life includes news of the miracles that took place on the film set, the story of Mel’s personal journey of faith, and how Jim Caviezel, the actor who plays Jesus, hopes viewers will see Christ, not himself. The Easter issue also features Sir Cliff Richard, a re-telling of the Easter story, a defence of the resurrection by Methodist scientist/theologian David Wilkinson and the testimonies of two Charlton Athletic defenders.

Came across this comment which I thought is worth sharing...
This is the gospel, by all reports, with no punches pulled.
Just as Haman ended up in the gallows he prepared for Mordecai, [Esther 3-6] the end result of "The Passion" was the fulfilment of all prophecy.
That the devil would be crushed and the power of godly expression would be given back to mankind.
In that wonderful, ever-expected, full expression of God who was made perfect in the flesh.
It was the Man who was God, Jesus Christ. In Him we saw servanthood at it's very best.
And the selfishness of man was ground to absolutely nothing by his unwavering commitment to the task and the knowledge of the result.
Yes it was gruesome, yes it was violent but when you watch the Passion you must always remember the prize, as He did, always remember the reason that he did it. That we would again have power over the devil.
And then you will see the Love of God in action, oozing out to everyone ever born and reaching out with the prize that He won for us.
Manifesting His nature in his wonderful act of self sacrifice.

Bootleg copies of The Passion hit the Middle East
26/03/2004
Pirated DVDs of Mel Gibson's “The Passion of The Christ” have hit the streets of the Middle East and are selling like hot cakes, according to street vendors.
The film, which is released in the UK this week, and has faced charges of anti-Semitism, is already being sold outside of supermarkets, and out of the trunk of cars for the price of SR 30 or less. A copy obtained by Arab News was reportedly of high quality.
A street vendor said on condition of anonymity vendors underestimated demand for the movie because the dialogue is in Latin and ancient Aramaic rather than English. “My customers don’t like subtitled movies, but they are buying this one.”
“A majority of these DVDs come from the Far East by way of GCC states,” he said. “Pirated CDs and DVDs of latest movies are often available in Jeddah weeks before the films are even released in the United States.”
Mel Gibson’s movie company, Icon, is suing a Hollywood post-production company claiming bad security allowed three employees to copy the film.
The bootlegs eventually turned up online and on the black market.
According to the 2003 International Intellectual Property Alliance report, “Saudi Arabia should remain on the watch list. The piracy situation in Saudi Arabia continued to improve for most sectors in 2002 ,with cooperation from the Ministry of Information and sustained raiding that has eaten into piracy rates for the motion picture and business software industries.”

Passion of Christ: What did he say? What did Jesus Christ have to say about himself? Was Jesus Christ a Legend, Lunatic, Liar, or was He Lord and God? In his famous book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis makes this statement,
"A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic--on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg--or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us."
Jesus could only have been one of four things: a legend, a liar, a lunatic--or Lord and God. There is so much historical and archeological evidence to support his existence that every reputable historian agrees he was not just a legend. If he were a liar, why would he die for his claim, when he could easily have avoided such a cruel death with a few choice words? And, if he were a lunatic, how did he engage in intelligent debates with his opponents or handle the stress of his betrayal and crucifixion while continuing to show a deep love for his antagonists? He said he was Lord and God. The evidence supports that claim.
Here are some of the key claims Jesus made about himself.
Passion of Christ: The Claims Of Jesus He claimed to live a sinless life Jesus could look at a crowd of people angry at his claims to share God's nature and ask, "Which of you can point to anything wrong in my life?" Even more amazing is that none of them could give a reply! No human being has ever lived a sinless life, except for Jesus.
John 8:28-29 "So Jesus said, 'When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know who I am and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.'"
John 8:46-47 "Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."
He claimed to be the ONLY way to God Not one of several ways, but the one and only way. Not to teach the way, but to be the way to God. Nobody has ever made claims like that before and backed them, but Jesus did through his love, balanced life, and miracles.
John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me."
Matthew 11:27 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."Note: No other world religious leader, such as Buddha, Confucius, or Mohammed ever made this claim.
He claimed to have shared the glory of God in Heaven Jesus claimed to have pre-existed the people he spoke with. The apostle John--who shared bread with Jesus--wrote that Jesus was with God in the very beginning, and that "all things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being." (John 1:1-5)
John 17:5 "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began." This is a claim distorted by groups like the Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses.
He claimed to be able to forgive sins One of the reasons that the Jewish leaders were so angry with Jesus was his continual practice of forgiving people's sins. The religious leaders understood clearly that since sins were rebellion against God Himself, only God could forgive sins.
Luke 5:20-21 "When Jesus saw their faith, he said, 'Friend, your sins are forgiven.' The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, 'Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?'"
Luke 7:48-49 "Then Jesus said to her, 'Your sins are forgiven.' The other guests began to say among themselves, 'Who is this who even forgives sins?'"
He claimed to be a Heavenly king Luke 22:69 "But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God."
Luke 23:1-3 "Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, 'We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Christ, a king.' So Pilate asked Jesus, 'Are you the king of the Jews?' 'Yes, it is as you say,' Jesus replied."
John 18:36-37 "Jesus said, 'My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.' 'You are a king, then!' said Pilate. Jesus answered, 'You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.'"
He claimed to be able to give everlasting life He didn't just tell people how they could find everlasting life, or deepen their own life experience. He actually claimed to give life himself.
John 6:40 "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
John 6:47 "I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life."
John 10:28-30 "I give [my followers] eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one."
John 11:25 "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die...'"
He claimed that he would die and come back to life John 10:17 "Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and I lay down my life for the sheep. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life--only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."
John 12:32-33 "'But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.' He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die."
John 16:16 "In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me."
Luke 18:31-33 "Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, 'We are going up into Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.'"
He claimed that he would return again to judge the world Matthew 24:27-30 "So as the lightening comes from the east and flashes to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man... At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory."
Matthew 25:31-32 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep and the goats."
Mark 14:61-62 "Again the high priest asked him, 'Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?' 'I am,' said Jesus. 'And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.'" Jesus clearly claimed to be both God and Messiah.

Passion of the Christ storms UK box office -30/3/04 Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ has stormed to the top of the UK and Ireland box office with weekend takings of £2.01m. The three-day figure marks the highest-ever opening for a subtitled film. Gibson's triumph comes as little surprise given the massive publicity which the film has generated. But as well as being accused of anti-Semitism, it has also been welcomed with open arms by many Christians, who have bought thousands of tickets. The powerful depiction of the crucifixion has also prompted confessions of arson and murder. www.ekklesia.co.uk

Passion film sparks bombers confession -29/3/04
A wave of repentance triggered by Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" has caused a Norwegian neo-Nazi to confess to two bombings.
Johnny Olsen, 41, has gone to police admitting he was behind the attacks which happened nearly 10 years ago.
The bombings, which up to now had remained unsolved, were against anarchist squatters in Oslo and were part of an ongoing wave of street fights between neo-Nazis and anarchists.
Nobody died in the attacks, and Olsen has since been charged with arson.
His lawyer said: "The trigger that made him go to police and confess was that movie."
He added his client had long been concerned with issues such as reconciliation and redemption.
However, this appears to be the second confession sparked by the film in as many weeks.
One American, Texan Dan Leach, saw the film, then confessed to killing his 19-year-old pregnant girlfriend.
Police had previously thought Ashley Nicole Wilson had taken her own life.
The film opened in the UK last weekend.
