Dear friends,
There are two urgent situations to share with you this week. It is a privilege to pass on the news of our suffering brothers and sisters, knowing you will join me in lifting them to our Father in prayer.
Eritrea
I'm afraid the latest news from Eritrea is not good. Police have hauled off to prison a further 51 believers who were meeting for secret worship in the capital city, Asmara, on Sunday 15 February. The 34 men and 17 women were held under arrest at a military camp until 18 February, when the pastor, Mengse Tweldemedhane, was separated from the group and locked in an underground cell. That same day, all but four of the other believers were transferred to another military camp, where they remain incarcerated. These latest arrests bring to 347 the total number of believers known to be jailed in at least nine locations across Eritrea for attending "illegal" worship services, possessing Bibles or witnessing about their faith. Some have now been behind bars for almost two year

Nigeria
On 16 January, Muslim students at Nigeria's Federal College of Education in the northern city of Yola burned down the home of the school's provost, in an attempt to kill him. After the arson attack, the assailants then turned on Christian students and staff. Several were hospitalised. Grace Yakubu, a Christian member of staff says, "We no longer have the confidence to carry on with teaching activities here.”<br>

Thank you for 'joining in the struggle' of our persecuted brothers and sisters by praying for them (Romans 15:30). May God bless you.
