John Holme does not need a microphone for preaching A preacher whose loud sermons have upset traders and shoppers in Salisbury city centre was back on the streets on Saturday. Pastor John Holme of the Lighthouse Fellowship has been asked to tone down his oratories. Complaints from shopkeepers and the public have been discussed by South Wiltshire Community Safety Partnership. In response to guidelines, Mr Holme has increased the number of locations to reduce the frequency of his visits. He has also agreed to watch his body language. There were complaints that he pointed at people while mentioning hell. Mr Holme told BBC News Online: "I don't think I did this but I have said I will be careful. No ban "I don't want to frighten people, I just want them to come to Jesus." A statement from the Community Safety Partnership said a meeting had been held "in an attempt to initiate a dialogue and put forward some suggestions for his consideration". It was hoped this would enable Pastor Holme to continue his work without drawing adverse comments from the general public. "There is no intention to prevent him from preaching," the statement said. The South Wiltshire Community Safety Partnership's members include Salisbury District Council, Wiltshire Constabulary and Wiltshire County Council. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/wiltshire/3902825.stm
