Dear friends,
The latest reports show that the vicious crackdown against believers in Eritrea is set to continue - our prayers are needed as much as ever.
The Eritrean authorities started a new campaign last week - raiding the private homes of evangelical Christians, and arresting and jailing entire families caught praying and reading the Bible together. In two separate arrests this time last week, families - including children - from the Rema Charismatic Church in the capital city, Asmara, were sent to jail. This takes the total number of believers known to be imprisoned (and subjected to severe torture) in Eritrea to a staggering 373.
You can campaign on behalf of these brothers and sisters. Visit www.opendoorsuk.org/advocate_eritrea.php for details.
On a happier note, I have some good news from Turkey. I know many of you have been praying for brother Soner Onder for many years, as he has been imprisoned since 1991 on charges of terrorism. Now, at long last, Soner is approaching eligibility for parole. He hopes to be released on 25 June. Please do uphold him in your prayers as these last few months drag by - may Soner continue to know the Lord's strength and peace. To read the full report on Soner and see his photo, visit www.opendoorsuk.org/article_soner_awaits_release.php
You can write to Soner to encourage him to persevere in these last months of his imprisonment. Send your letters or cards to:

Please follow these guidelines:
1. Do not mention Open Doors.
2. Do not criticise the Turkish government or legal system.
3. Please include Scripture verses in English and tell Soner that you are praying for him.
Thank you for your support. May our prayers remind the believers in Eritrea, and Soner in Turkey, that there is no hardship or persecution that can separate them from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:35-39).
